Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Carlos Lee and I am the CEO of EPIC (European Photonics Industry Consortium).
I have been involved in the development of the photonics community for the past 10 years!
What is EPIC?
EPIC is a European wide international association created in 2003 in France.
When we started, we were quite small, the team was composed of only 2 employees dealing with an emerging technology called “photonics”. At that time we had only a hundred members.
We’ve grown quite significantly since then, today we have 13 employees and almost a thousand members. EPIC has become the largest Photonics association in the world.
How did you come to work with Impulsa?

We started as a small client originally, only for one small task: Accounting
As we grew, we had more needs not only on the accounting side but now also on the legal side.
Our accounts had to be audited and we needed support on the budget forecasting, Budget planning and controlling.
As the competence was not available in house, we needed to make sure that we had a trusted, reliable partner with whom we could continue working.
Therefore, it was very welcome that while EPIC grew, Impulsa did too.
The amount of service had increased meaning that Impulsa was able to cater to our needs.
On what assignments ?
Accounting, Legal as mentioned before, but there is one more: HR.
EPIC staff of 13 employees are scattered across 9 countries. Impulsa offers a great help dealing with all of the complexity that comes with that.
We’ve also found that Impulsa is extremely flexible, at some point we needed legal information related to the stock market, something that is not usual for them to deal with.
Nonetheless, they had the flexibility to find internally to find the skills and resources to help us on that matter.
Do you see the value that the One Stop Shop can bring?

I do not live in Paris myself, therefore it is not convenient for me to meet very often with Impulsa.
But it was important for me to have a single point of contact, me as the client dealing with one organization i do not want to deal with 5 intermediaries.
I want to have one reliable contact.
So it's extremely welcomed that a project manager (Edouard) was assigned to us.
As the CEO of a growing organization, I travel a lot, I am very busy and I need an efficient and reliable solution, therefore the One Stop Shop and the singular point of contact (project manager) is very welcome!
